Next is Isabel concentrating hard on her new weaving project. Grandpa M. Built her this table loom and she’s decided to make a headband. Pretty cute.

just how much winter can winter veggies handle?
I was curious all right. I didn’t get too far as the soup was simmering away on the stove, and little Ethan was starting to wake up from his nap. But I did manage to dig up one leek and a few pieces of kale that snapped off as I uncovered their snowy little heads. I’ll need to get out there tomorrow and check out how the cilantro, mustard greens, spinach & beets are doing. Hopefully the wee little garlic shoots that were poking out in the fall will still be perky by spring.

The kids have spent the past two days building up this skating rink and were able to successfully put their skates to the test today! They can skate in small circles, practice their turns and play 1:1 hockey with a net on each end. Too fun!
So we’re gearing up for a big old-fashioned snowfall. “They say” it could be like the blizzard of ’96 where we had a foot of snow overnight, people stuck at home with power outages for days….we’ll see. Al is out shuttling friends home from Madeline’s bday party. It’s times like this he *loves* having a big ole truck with AWD. He also wants to hit the store and stock up on some rations. And I am looking for the perfect toque pattern on Ravelry cause I am completely obsessed with knitting right now. And some wee mitts for my little guy who has none. And it is cold! Like -10 cold. Brrrrr. Nothing worse than chilly hands on my tummy while nursing! Not that he’d wear mittens in the house I guess…anyway, he needs mitts. All the kids are tucked in after a day of Nativity practice at the church (for tomorrow’s service that has now been cancelled), dancing & playing music at Broadmead Lodge this afternoon.
Here’s my beautiful Emma on the left! I love watching her dance. She & her friend put a dance together to “Oh Holy Night”.
So much more to add- I really need to be more consistent cause there’s so many things to record here! I had a “Finish it Friday”yesterday, and completed two pairs of slippers and wool socks- yahoo!
And I have been meditating alot on marriage and the work and commitment it takes to remain together and in love. Man, it’s work. So good, so hard, and so necessary. And so much part of God’s plan for us, his children and for us, His church. Oh, how He loves us.
Lord, help us to understand that in a new way- that you love would be so deep we would have no say in the transformative, redemptive work you desire to do in us.
